Havens Christmas 2010

Well after a year long of threats about the "man in the big red suit" we have finally made it past the joyful 2010 Christmas.

Morgan was amazed at how much Santa brought her that she had to take a break in between opening up her gifts. She really was on the NICE LIST according to her & from the amount of gifts left under our tree!

It has always been a tradition to have the Evans/Havens family dinner on Christmas Eve and open gifts at Pawpaw's house along with Grandma & Grandpa's.

We tried to get all of the Great Grandchildren together, but with kids you never get that perfect picture you're always hoping for.

After it was all said and done you could say that we had a blessed Christmas and we are extremely grateful that we got to spend it with all our loved ones!

Not For Christmas

Well as much as we had hoped & prayed for it, we will NOT be spending Christmas in our new house.

As of today we still don't have our power hooked up inside and our hardwood floors can't come in the house until the heat has been on for at least 3 days. If someone had picked a different type of flooring then it wouldn't of mattered but I had to have Hickory!!!

We do have the first coat of paint on the walls and most of the crown molding!

Our upstairs Family Room is Pink & Green! It's mainly a place for Morgan to play & have play dates with her soon to be boyfriend Sebastian!!! But it will be a private area of our home as will the whole 2nd floor and not really open for our guest to venture through.

Morgan's "Big Girl" bedroom is Peach Burst! Yeah, it didn't look like this on the paint chip but it's not that bad. Her Grandma says she's going to need a thick pair of sunglasses though!

I'll keep updating as things progress. Right now it's hard to get out and take photos because of all the bad weather we are experiencing.

To Find The Great Pumpkin

Starting Family Traditions is something I've looked forward to since I saw the plus sign on the end of my pregnancy test. So today we loaded up and headed to the Williams Family Orchard in Rural Retreat on a search for "The Great Pumpkin."

We started off on a hay ride that took us to the top of the pumpkin patch. Daddy and Morgan grabbed a wagon and we were on our way down the hill destined to find the perfect one. After yelling "Oh, balls" for 15 minutes and picking up every other one Morgan finally narrowed the search down to two.

We finally made her pick which one she wanted to take home and headed back up the hill. Maxing out at 8 pounds we loaded him into the truck and headed back down the road. It was a fun filled day as it road in the floor board of the F-150. We had found our Great Pumpkin and started a Havens Family Tradition!

Home Sweet Home Part 2

Well a lot has changed since my last post about the house. All of the brick is done and we have insulation throughout the house. We were told that the dry wall would be delivered this week and they would start on it Monday. That's so exciting, I can start picking out my paint colors now! Here are some updated pictures of the work in progress!

Monkey See Monkey Zoo

On Saturday October 2, 2010 we took Morgan on her first zoo trip. I have been an animal lover for as long as I can remember so this was a special trip for me to show my love for Earth's creatures with her. I am so glad that we both share the same interest in animals and she had a lot of fun too. Her favorites were the Red Panda, the River Otters and the Penguins. Some of the unforgettable memories of our trip are when Morgan called the Red Pandas "kitty kitty" and the Wolves "baebae". Her Grandmother has a horse named Baby so maybe that's why she called the wolves that? Either way it was a day I'll remember forever!

Home Sweet Home Part 1

As some of you are aware Justin & I are building our dream home. This has been the biggest challenge of our entire marriage. As two young adults I don't think we really knew what we we're getting ourselves into when we signed our contract. From arguments about being over budget to the simplest things as a cabinet style we've faced them all. It really has shown us how strong our relationship is to go through all these difficult and life changing tasks.

We signed our contract in March and since then things have really progressed. After looking at a hole in the ground and a lot of dirt we finally have what appears to be the house we've always drempt about.
April 15, 2010 - First /day of construction.

May 26, 2010 - Daddy & Morgan in what will be our basement.

June 17, 2010 - Frame work has started.

June 29, 2010 - Framing for the 2nd floor.

June 30, 2010 - That's a really big house.

July 14, 2010 - Starting to take shape!
August 25, 2010 - First day of brick!!!
Everyday we are amazed at how much the house is coming together. I will try to keep you updated on the process as impatient as it is. I'm so excited just thinking that in less than 6 months this will be our new home!
